CHRETIEN SHOCKED BOB RAE WON’T LEAD PARTY HE RUINED BEFORE JUMPING SHIP 10 YEARS AGO

(OTTAWA) - Former PM Jean Chrétien says he’s taken aback by interim Leader Bob Rae’s decision not to seek leadership of the Liberal Party which he is largely responsible for having destroyed beyond any reasonable hope of recovery.

“I was surprised,” said Chrétien in an interview with CBC. I thought he was to run. He has the experience it takes to be the momentary token leader of a party that I personally drained of any credibility before dropping it like a shit-grenade on Paul Martin’s lap, who couldn’t overwhelm the public’s mass feelings of betrayal over the Quebec sponsorship scandal. I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to place his career on life-support.”

Continued the former PM “But, really, at this point we could elect a sack of used condoms as leader because it might be a little more loved than this party right now.”

He also suggested other Liberals who could take on the status of political zombie with no power or credibility include Denis Coderre and Marc Garneau. “But we may as well elect Mad Max because it’s going to be a nuclear winter before this party ever gets reelected. People are even seriously considering voting NDP!” said Mr Chrétien with a laugh “‘Nuff said.”

“You’re welcome.” he added.
