(WINNIPEG) –Budget cuts to Canada’s Space Program have lead to downsizing programs and layoffs. But the full extent of the effects weren’t realized until the cherished Canadarm was spotted on the mean streets of Winnpeg, living rough.

The Canadarm is a robotic arm that was once utilized on the Space Shuttles Columbia, Challenger, Endeavor, Discovery, Endeavor, and the International Space Station was regularly in the public spotlight as an example of Canada’s technological prowess.

But lately, the Canadarm has been spotted on the streets panhandling and squeegeeing car windshields at intersections. At times the Canadarm is holding large bottles of booze wrapped in brown paper and making obscene gestures at passers-bye.

The full extent of the Canadarm’s destitution aren’t known at this time, however eyewitnesses cite prostitution, gambling and heroin use. Says a homeless man “Boy, that Canadarm has hit the scag like a robotic Ashley MacIsaac.”

“Canada used to be so proud of the Candarm but now I have to get my children to avert their eyes when it’s sitting there in an alley, arm wrestling for spare change or offering hand jobs.“ said Helen, a mother of two small children.

Shaking her head; “First Steve Fonyo, and now this.”
